Sassafras Pen Blanks
Medium to light brown in color, sometimes with orange or olive hue, tends to darken with age. Bears a strong resemblance to Chestnut or black ash. Grain is straight, but coarse with an uneven texture. Easy to work and good dimensional stability once it is dry. Glues, stains and finishes well! Aroma is similar to root beer.
Sassafras has been reported as a sensitizer – can cause some people discomfort. Wear protective breathing apparatus.
