Tzalam, commonly known as ‘Caribbean Walnut,’ resembles Hawaiian Koa with its light to medium brown heartwood and reddish or purplish tones. Despite its nickname, it is not a true walnut. Like Hawaiian Koa, Tzalam is easy to work with, glues well, and achieves a smooth, lustrous finish, making it ideal for creating impressive turned objects such as a peppermills or large turning projects.
